Looking Glass Diaries
November 2, 2004

To my loyal blog readers, both of you. I apologize for the delay in updating, but my interest in learning HTML waned for a bit. Now I'm bored, so it's back up. Go figure. The reason for my boredom is my complete avoidance of any and all media outlets. Tonight election news will be permeating the television, internet, and radio. I did my civic duty and voted this morning, so I feel perfectly justified in saying that I want to hear nothing about the election except who won. And for that, I can wait until tomorrow morning. All the hooplah surrounding elections (like we need more excuses to have parties?) is a bit much for me. Especially when I have this sinking sensation in the pit of my stomach that the "other" candidate is going to win. Either way, I'll find out tomorrow.

In other news, I'm rethinking the whole going back to school thing. I'm having a "been there, done that" moment. But what the hell am I going to do if I don't go back to school? I could try to get a temporary job, but there's complications with that. Nope, I won't share online what the complications are. If you want to find out, you have to call me. Yes, Jorge, call me (there's a first time for everything). Either way, I'm determined to move to Houston in January, if for nothing else than getting settled in my new place. Or maybe I'll just backpack Europe for a couple of months. *sigh* Who knows?

October 11, 2004:

Consider this the beginning of the end.  I have finally dragged my technology-challenged butt onto the web.

Read here if you want one woman's take on feminism, the media, and the male-female thing.

My first comment is regarding a new phenomenon, brought on by the prevalent embrace of e-mail.  E-mailing under the influence, or EUI.  I can't claim to be the original commentator on EUI - I heard a tongue-in-cheek piece regarding this on NPR.  It's apparently replacing drunk dialing as the post-merriment 3 a.m. activity.  For the record, you're better off going with that oldie but goodie, drunk dialing.  At least that way if you actually get ahold of someone the words are fleeting, not forever immemorialized as part of someone's in-box.  And if you do happen to leave a message, there's less chance of mass distribution of your drunken ramblings.  It's way too easy to forward an e-mail to various and sundry.

So that's today's public service announcement.  Tune in tomorrow for more on this channel.

OK, so I've let the webpage thing go for a while. Things have been, um, interesting. I will write more later, but I'm done learning HTML - apparently that was a short-lived phase.
